Oil industry is not the ‘bad guy’ in this story

When a non-state watchdog group informed California Gov. Newsom of corruption by those who regulate oil companies for the state, Newsom fired California’s top regulator and is considering tougher regulations on the oil industry. Western States Petroleum Association agreed every actor needs to be held to the highest standards of conduct, but does not agree they are to blame. Now California oil companies that are essential to our state economy and provide jobs, with 386,000 jobs created by Western State Petroleum alone in California, are being unfairly targeted. More regulations as a result of this are unfounded and could cause gas prices to increase.
